Well, I removed the bottom seat skins off my convertible to see about repairing a split seam that's been growing over the past year. The wires that should be attached to the skin had come free from their tissue paper like "linen" as mentioned in the thread below. I'd like to try some of the suggested repairs (hems from jeans was a clever idea I thought) but I am wondering, how did everyone stitch things back together? A machine of some sort, or is this a hand operation? I'd love to learn to do this but don't really know where to start. I've put leather wraps on streering wheels with a big needle and waxed thread...similar process here? The factory was definitely machine stitched...
Thanks!
