Greetings,

First, I’d like to express thanks to SAAB Net and all of you who contribute and post your first-hand knowledge and experiences – I’ve learned quite a bit by searching the forums.

On October 3rd, 2008, I purchased my first SAAB, a black 88 SPG with 156,000 miles. With the help of others who have posted to this forum and the Bentley manual, I just installed four new ball joints and four new Bilstein heavy duty shocks (purchased from eEuroparts.com – another great resource!). The removal of the old ball joints and shocks took me about 10 hours and went pretty smoothly. The car handles better than it did with the KYBs and yes it is a stiffer ride but I much prefer the Bilstein shocks.

The main reason I’m writing is because I noticed that a brass nipple fitting is loose on the throttle bottle and I’m thinking it might be one of the reasons that I only have base boost at the moment (a medium sized black hose is connected to it). My question is two-fold: Can I ‘glue’ the brass nipple with ‘JB Weld’ back into the throttle body with a confident ‘air-tight’ fitting without damaging the throttle body AND could this loose fitting nipple be a source of base boost issues (turbo only going 2/3 into the yellow—never going into the orange)?

Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have about this issue and let me know if you see anything that might not look quite right in the engine compartment.

Jason

ps. I was having idle and engine stalling issues but after reading a few posts about resetting the computer I decided to give it a try. I disconnected the battery for about 12 hours then reconnected it and the car drives much, much better. Thanks for the tip!
