No, you do not need to pull the engine.
Passenger side is easy.
Driver side is a little more involved. Follow the link for how I replaced the driver side forward upper control arm bushing.
See the photo for access to the driver side rear upper control bushing. The rear bushing can be accessed with the steering rack and sway bar removed. It is a lot of work, but still less work than pulling the motor.
