Pre-pump or Main Pump? Update Posted by EverettDave [Email] (#1894) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EverettDave) on Sun, 4 Jan 2009 01:08:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When I last posted on the 30th, with forum help I had about eliminated the fuel pump as cause for my loss of power at 3000revs in 5th. Digging around in my Bentley's and this wonderful forum, I began to look at the AMM for potential cause. Even priced it from europarts.
Free of snow and rain and above 32 F at least for today, I started to test the AMM, but noticed that the intake hose out of the intercooler was not positioned as it had been before. Here comes the breakthrough: Could it be a simple air leak as is so often the case? I loosened that clamp, slipped the hose further onto the intercooler outlet, and took a drive.
Voila! Steady 900 rpm idle, strong drivability, and steady boost all the way. History: a couple of weeks back I solved a high idle issue by cleaning the AIC and the throttle body. Had to remove some intake piping, right? Didn't replace it properly. Moral of the Story: LOOK FOR SIMPLE SOLUTIONS FIRST! We are always relearning this rule. I love this forum!
