Yes...everyone says Saab trannies are bad...but that's only because the cars last SO long, something has to give out first. I rebuilt the tranny myself on my 85 900T with a 1990 unit that had 110K on it but needed reconditioning. My car now has 304K and the tranny has been untouched since 1995!!! It's as sweet a Saab tranny as ever, no whines, perfectly smooth change. The secret IMHO is synthetic gear lube and 24000 mile changes.
No comment on the auto's other than they suck to drive. No lock up coverter, only 3 speeds and they are not that strong. They also suck gas compared to a stick that can easily achieve upper 20s mpg and even over 30 on the highway.
