Thanks for the response. I figured it was worth a shot as all of the advice that you have posted seems to be spot on as to what my independant Saab mechanic says.
I have one other question regarding the transmission on my 88 900T. At around 120K miles (car now has 132K), I noticed a whining noise in all gears, louder as the speed increases but only when accelerating...if I come off the gas but still have the car in gear, the noise goes away. There is no noise when not in gear and so far no jumping out of any gears at all upon accelerating or decelerating. I have chnged the trans oil twice during that time, once with BG SyncroShift and more recently back to engine oil. The BG was somewhat but not much quieter so I switched back to engine oil as that is all I have ever run in the trans to that point.
Anyway, if you have a moment I would very much value your opinion as to a guess on the likely culprit. Look forward to hearing back. Regards
