I own one and admittedly, I keep it on my car December to March just as a conversation starter. Driving around Manhattan yesterday with the top down in 50 deg. weather, I had two people ask me in a surprised way if that was a ski rack on my trunk. One guy had never seen a convertible of any make with a ski rack. I said those Swedes think of everything! I consider this accessory the holiest of holies of C900 Saab accessories (except maybe for the plastic cover for the 16-valve fuel rail that was only produced in 1986). The down side to the ski rack is that is was designed for the straight-edged downhill skis of the 1980's. Modern skis are considerably fatter and shorter, with an hourglass shape that makes carving turns easier. This means a ski rack originally designed for two pairs of skis can only carry one. Fortunately since the average ski length is now only ~160 cm, whereas they were ~190-220 cm for an advanced skier twenty years ago.
