I wish I could tell you from experience how these would work on a Saab 900, but I do have a set on my 1986 LeBaron Turbo Convertible. That car has the same low-riding-rear issue as the Saab 900 has. The progressive-rate springs corrected it on that car. I also used to tow a small trailer behind it on family trips, which is why I went the progressive-rate route. That car has had a ton of performance work done to it (including suspension), and I didn't want to compromise the performance ride quality. I must say, I like the progressive rate springs for performance as well. When you're cornering, more load is on the inside spring. The extra weight tends to make the spring ride stiffer, which is a good thing.
I've been watching this thread with interest, because I'm considering putting p-r springs on my '92 900T as well. That car rides a little low in the back and rides real low with people in the back seat. I don't load the car up much, and don't have a trailer hitch. If that's the case with you, you'll probably be OK with the p-r springs. If you often have the back seat occupied, or carry heavy loads, you might want to go the air-shock or airbag route.
