I put an earlier, thinner dash in my '93. Three reasons I did this was, it was crack free and got it fairly cheap, the earlier dash material was thicker and less prone to cracking, plus the seller stated he never used any Armour-All on the dash which IMO causes the cracking to begin with.
The fitment went well, the only difference I found was where the console met the dash by the ashtray. Had to loose about 1/2-3/4 inch from the end of the console to make it fit into the recess on the dash. I took masking tape (can't remember 1/2" or 3/4") and taped around the upper end of the console to be cut. Took a cutoff wheel on a die grinder and carefully scored the tape line to be cut. After it was scored I bent the plastic at the score line and the excess was removed (like cutting drywall). Sanded the edge of the plastic to clean up the end. Fitment looks stock and crack free dash looks great!
You can make it work.
