With the key removed and engine off, do a voltage check on the + side of the coil. If there's voltage here +, then the problem is with the ignition switch.(Maybe) JUST A SUGGESTION! Do you have an electric antenna? Does it shut completely off when retracted? My 96/900s was draining the battery because it failed the turn off when retracted. I would suggest pulling some relays or fuses, one at a time, and see if any are the problem circuit. At least this would narrow it down to which area the problem is.
