While your in there , check to hose clamps for tightness, and check to see if the fuel overflow tube (goes from plastic filler neck down and exits out the bottom of the body panel) is going outside the bottom of the car. If its broken off and any fuel overflow could go into the right rear panel and stay there if the drain hole is plugged.If the filler neck has ever been removed and replaced that drain tube is often broken.
