After tolerating many cracked dashes over the years, I have found the perfect inexpensive solution:
* Buy an automotive grade carpet, I like black at Menards or any other carpet supply
* trace out a paper outline of the dash
* with white chalk, trace out the pattern on the rug and cut, remember the 2 holes for the windshield vent
* I glue it down firmly in the center, but moderately on the ends so you can get to the speakers. I use a hot glue gun, industrial glue like liquid nails work great also
* then to dress up the edging, I purchase the fuzzy velcro about one inch wide as a border, you can hot glue it in place on the edge as a finishing touch
* it all looks neat and professional and should cost no less than 10-15 bucks
* you can velcro creature comfort stuff like coffee cups, radar detector, pens, your favorite pictures, etc any where on the dash or edge with security
* Be careful not to get any extra glue on the carpet/velcro as it would be difficult to come off and impair your pofessional finished product
What do you think????
