When it came time to do the HG on my '93 Arkansaab (my first HG repair) I pondered the 're-use' or 'buy new' question for a time and ultimately concluded that it was a CYA advisory from Saab Inc. That's not a bad strategy for a dealership, but it may not make as much sense for a DIYer.
My reasoning was this: The purported danger was that previously stretched bolts would be unable to withstand further stretching inflicted by that last 90 degree turn. I figured that, if true, the weak spot prone to breakage would be somewhere between the threads embedded in the head and the e16 Torx bolt; if I popped one on the 90 degree wrench on reuse, I'd likely have enough bolt shaft remaining to turn it out (since the stress would have been applied to that previously stretched section) and THEN I'd buy a replacement.
As it turned out... No worries. Not sure if I'd re-use a third time, but hopefully won't have to contemplate that possibility.
My 2 cents, other opinions/experiences welcome.
Scott
