Whichever temperature setting you decide on, it would be a good idea to match the thermostat to the switch. I use the 82 in my 89TC and the temperature gauge stays right at the middle in the stop and go, short commutes I get to do with the car during the summer. No problems for 3 years now (previously it was running at about the 3/4 mark) but I did replace both switch and thermostat. Did the same in my 89 SPG which I use all winter, and it runs a bit on the cool side so may swap back to the higher temperature switch and thermostat. Use the genuine Saab thermostat.
