B212 is run by LH 2.4.2 Jetronic and it uses speed sensor located in the speedometer. You could try the following:
- go under the left front speaker grill and disconnect the wiring from speedometer socket (or the cable that is driven by transmission)
- check if the issue persists

(NB: this signal is also used for cruise control - you'll loose this function once speed sensor is disabled)

ISAT/TECH2 diagnostic tools will be of definite help here if you're able to access them. You can also try to power ecu down for a night by removing negative cable from battery or plugging the ecu itself out of the car.

My Valkyrie is 50/50 male (although prev owner did smth about the rear end but a single fail should be pardoned) and metallic green. And yours?
