ABS Accumulator help - Long

A couple of days ago my ABS and Brake fluid lights came on and stayed on while driving in some stop and go during the heat of the day. The brake pedal was the same as it always was, and the fluid good. I performed the accumulator test. The pump sounded good, but the accumulator failed badly after just the first press of the brake pedal.
So I changed the accumulator today with a used specimen. Both the car this came off of, and mine have about 275K miles and not sure if either accumulator was the original.
The replacement didn't go quite as planned. Upon loosening the accumulator, the system was still under too much pressure and fluid squirted out. I didn't think too much until I saw the puddle oozing from under the car.
After I put the new one on and added about a quart of fluid, I did the test again and it passed, no lights. Fluid looked good and full. But during the driving test the lights would flash with every hard push of the pedal. The lights accompanied the usual hard pull to the left that this car has had for a few years - which may be a suspension issue, I don't know.
After parking it, I then checked the fluid level again. I opened the cap and the fluid was all frothy bubbles.
Any advice would be great.
Tim
