my 90 900 had been sitting for awhile and i had to move it to have a tree removed from the back yard.
i started the car and it ran fine, but i noticed fuel spilling into the driveway from the forward drivers side of the fuel tank. fearing a cracked fuel tank, i shut the engine down and the spilling stopped. i opened up the trunk pulled out the trunk floor, popped open the fuel pump cover and saw a pool of gas on top of the fuel pump. started the car back up and fuel started spraying out of the pressure side of the pump (needless to say, shut it down quick). found a crack where the plastic elbow nipple exists by itself before entering the hard plastic fuel line. meaning, right at the elbow the nipple has a flat flange on the top before it continues away from the elbow and then the flange stops but the nipple continues. mine cracked right where the flange stopped.
frustrated for a few minutes looking for ways to fix it, thinking i was going to jb weld it up, i realized the flange could be grinded off to reveal a cylindrical nipple.
went to the auto parts store, picked up high pressure fuel line (can't remember the size, maybe 3/8"?) and a couple hose clamps.
cut off the flange on the elbow with a dremel and slid one end of the hose over it. slid the other end over the plastic fuel line with the nipple inside. clamped both sides and was good to go.
i know this is a common failure so wanted to post my results and fix.
take care.
kooch.
