Just wanted to post a follow-up to a problem I was having a couple of months ago. A bit of history...

Replaced my rack last spring with a rebuild. Followed directions to a tee (flushing the system, etc), and all was well. Couple of months ago and out of the blue, the steering went south; notchy, intermittent operation. Based on suggestions, I flushed the system, greased the steering column joints and replaced the pump. It helped a bit, but definitely not enough.

I was ready to replace the rack and 'start over'. On a whim, I flushed my fluid again and added a couple of ounces of "Auto-RX", an ester cleaning agent that claims to clean engines internals and more. To make sure it got into the system, I poured the Auto-Rx first, then filled the system.

Within an hour or driving ( over two days), the steering was operating normally. I honestly cannot which element of my repair did the work, and for all I know, the last flush could have cleaned out the last bit of material in my system. Anyway, I'm back on the road with my old beater convertible, just in time for the summer season.
