I autocross the car and run track days. Its really a general purpose street/race car. I boxed the front lowers not for fear of breakage, but because apparently there is alot of flex in the arms and stiffening them improves steering response as well as minimizing the breakage problem. One of the original LCA's broke completely off at the weld where the shock mounts (the heavy bar seperated from the upright). I would hate to have something like that happen at speed on the track. As far as the upper arms and rear lower arms are concerned. The fronts take all the force of the spring, and the lower rear arms on a 99 were boxed in with a plate that surrounded the spring. I could believe they could flex under the stress of motorsports abuse. Just curious if the added rigidity would benefit the response of the handling. As far as unsprung weight, I dont think the total amount of steel needed to do this would exceed a few pounds for all 6 arms.
