I think the problem with American cars are that the people still want to flex there power ego verses the American intellect. Look whats happen to the American auto industry! Loud exhaust pipes and smelly diesel exhaust fumes plus the poor MPG of most its cars. Don't be too surprised when gasoline prices soar for the purpose to sell more efficient automobiles. Why else would I own and drive so many Saabs? AARP magazine recently had a great article about keeping a tune, well maintained older automobile for its cost efficiently. Sure, you could buy a brand new Prius and have car payment and eventually have the battery replacement bill, or save your dollars and resources and drive a great used Saab.
