If you spend some time ensuring that the car is healthy, you should be fine.
In Feb '08 I competed in the Alcan 5000 touring rally in an '85 c900T with over 265k on the original engine (well, bottom end; the head had been refreshed due to tired valve seals). The car is in essentially stock condition. We drove from Seattle north through BC/YK/NWT to the Arctic Ocean, then down to Jasper, then Seattle (map: http://www.alcan5000.com/pdf/08AlcanRt4.pdf) in 11 days. The car was fine except for belts that squeaked a bit when it got cold.
It's a good idea to be prepared to manage electrical breakdowns that can strand you for a long time due to potential difficulty of getting parts that are specific to the car: we brought a spare distributor, ignition control module, and fuel pump assembly. Make sure before you go that the voltage reg. has plenty of life left.
Driving a newer car is no guarantee that you won't have issues. I know someone who did a prior Alcan event in a fairly new Subaru WRX whose alternator died and left him stranded for several days.
