In theory, yes, but you have to be careful. The 2.1s had problems. Some say it was porous castings, others say that it was bad head gaskets initially. I don't know for sure.
Thing is, when you're running an LPT (Low Pressure Turbo), you're really only having the turbo there for application in passing situations, or highway on-ramps. It's NOT for ultimate power.
The 150 HP (about) that a 2.0 given the LPT treatment is well more than enough for a Classic 900. Heck, my 1999 9-5 only has 170 from the LPT, and it's plenty in a considerably heavier car.
