You can, but it's a whole lot easier without it in place.
All you need is a T-30 TORX driver to remove the airbag, and a 22mm socket on 8-10" of extension. I find 1/2 drive works best. Loosen the nut (it's usually on here pretty good, but once you get it loose, you can loosen it the rest of the way with your fingers), but don't take it off completely. Leave a few mm of space between the bottom of the nut and the wheel surface or washer. Then work the wheel back and forth (push with your left while pulling with your right & v-v, not turning it) a few times, and it'll pop up to the nut. Remove the nut and wheel. Mind the airbag & horn wires.
IF you are putting this all back together again, you'll need to set the "clockspring" properly so it doesn't break the first time you go to one lock or another...
