I purchased the '87 with out a radio. I had an audio dealer install one for the drive home. During the drive home I noticed that the radio would cut out if I hit a bump or when I down shifting. I couldn't figure it out during the drive. I thought for sure it was wiring related issue. Months later, I was doing some basic repair and noticed that the battery cables were a little corroded. I replace both of them with the cables from a donor car. When I pulled of the positive cable from the battery the end fell right off. The radio has never cut out since, I think this was my problem.
