How To R&R Cruise Control Speed Transducer? 1989 900T

I need to replace the speed transducer on the back of the speedometer to fix my cruise control. The device I'm referring to is located to the left of the speedometer cable when looking at the back of the speedometer. I've provided a link to an image showing the part; I posted previously but someone told me that this part does not exist, hence the picture...
Can someone tell me if I need to remove the gauge cluster to R&R the transducer, or is it possible to do so through the driver's side speaker hole?
Thank you.
