'89 2.0 turbo motor
I had a case where the intake valves kissed the pistons, slightly bending the valves. Pulled the head and checked the valve guides and seats finding no visible damage. There was slight marks on the piston heads (nothing alarming), no scoring of the cylinder walls. Installed new intake valves, lightly lapping them in along with new stem seals. The valves lapped in nicely.
With new head gasket the head and timing is now back in so before putting it all back together I did a couple of rounds of checking the compression. With the oil primed up I'm getting 125 lbs. (+-3 lbs) across all cylinders. Pretty even but not the 150 lbs. I was getting before the incident.
Question is, do you think this would be considered normal and would the compression numbers come up once the valves get seated in more and operated at a normal temp? Looking for opinions before going further in reassembly.
Thanks for you thoughts
