No dash idiot light when defroster button pushed in. Replaced dash switch and relay in fuse box in engine compartment. Did not fix problem.

My son now driving a VW reminds me we disconnected a relay "buzzer" under the rear bench seat which energized when you left key in ignition or door open (forget which). I remember the annoying buzzing sound (it came from under bench seat) which we eliminated somehow, I thought we disconnected but upon inspection, all wires/relays are plugged in. The car had an original theft alarm box (with lots of wires) under the rear seat which I took out when I bought it 8 years ago. The annoying buzzing sound was eliminated more recently-last two years-apparently that was connected to the defroster which my son who was driving it at that time tells me did not work after that "fix". Thoughts?
