I'm going through the same quandry. My '92 900T daily driver has a seized motor as of a couple weeks ago. I've got another motor to put in her, but now I'm thinking of getting a good shell from down south and starting over. I'll just take all the good parts off my daily driver. I'd like it to last a while, so the better shape the body is in the more it appeals to me. My DD has a few persistent rust spots that I just can't cure--nothing major, but they bug me. I say go with plan A. Start with a good body, that will be the toughest thing to find. Or start with two cars; one with a clean body, and another with the things that appeal to you (like SPG bits, turbo motor, interior color, whatever...) and put your ideal car together.
