The C900 ended in 1993, and 1994 for the convertible. The 9000 was developed along with the 16v engine, and 1986 was the first production model. i think the stroked 2.3L engine came in '91 along with "DI-APC" (direct ignition + APC), and the T5 engine computer came a few years later.
The 9000 power-train is transverse for one. The car itself is much larger inside, but is actually shorter in length. It's only available in 4-door and 5-door bodies. Its classified by the EPA as a "large car". The T5 cars get better fuel economy than the c900, even with their stroked 2.3L engine. As others have noted, its a more modern car, computer tells you when you're brake lights are out, has a trip computer, outside temp, automatic climate control, etc. Stuffs nice when it works. Front suspension is MacPherson Strut. Rear is much the same as the 900.
Oh, and the key is on the steering wheel.
