radio code issues

I am going to give this one more shot before installing a new radio.
I put a new battery in. When the radio was turned on it was beeping and the redio panel showed "2251." No amount of pushing and holding "band" or "band" + other buttons could get this number to clear out. The local dealership confirmed the code I had ("5545") and could not get the radio to program either. What should I try next? I disconnected the battery and the "2251" is still on the screen.
