I didn't say it was a lubricant. There isn't any specification to lubricate the key switch, it's not needed.
It's WD because it's WATER DISPLACING, and it has some solvent properties, won't melt plastic, and lastly it's very light weight and doesn't hang around.
And that's why I suggest for this application. I use chain lube on my motorcycle chain, but not here.
I suppose you could put some oil in there, or PB Blaster, or something else that stays inside and gums up the works.
Remember that the key worked before it got gummed up, didn't need lubrication, and I didn't specific any lubrication either. You want to clean the residue from the soda out.
Do a search on previous fixes of the same thing.
On a completely different subject, The TSOL team in Houston has been running E85 in their 1992 9000T in the 24 Hours of Lemons with the following changes, bigger injectors. Yep the gas mileage is lower, but the car screams, oh and it runs cooler too.
