find the leak! Posted by CMyles [Email] (#1126) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CMyles) on Mon, 1 Feb 2010 15:38:27 In Reply to: Re: severe oil leak after new pressure switch?, Saab Junkie, Mon, 1 Feb 2010 14:45:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sky,
As Junkie said, "Please don't run the engine low on oil". These engines are very sturdy and reliable and will run almost forever, I have one with over 300,000 miles on it. They don't tolerate dirty or spent oil or being low on oil and one to two quarts represents a large percentage of the total. It's a shame to see a limited production SPG with a blown engine. Get a sending unit from Eerouparts.com or Thesaabsite.com or another site sponsor and put Permatex #2 Form a gasket on the threads. Teflon tape shreds and can end up in the oil circuit. You need to do a close inspection, have you changed the oil filter or done any other work in that area? Look closely at the oil cooler lines and their fittings at the filter adapter. Sometimes when you remove an old oil filter the rubber gasket remains stuck to the engine and then when you install the new filter with it's gasket the two gaskets bunch up and allow oil to leak.
