Pull out the latch assembly, clean off the congealed stuff that used to be grease with some sort of liquid solvent, let it dry, and relubricate the moving parts of the latch with a low-temperature-compliant oil such as silicone or white lithium grease. I got tired of getting in the right rear door of my '88 back in '04 when the temperature stayed below zero for a month and a half. It'll take you a few hours, bring the latch inside to work on it.
