Clutch loosing fluid

My '92 900s has started to loose clutch fluit. It will be fine for a couple of days, and then (overnight) have lost almost a bottle. Topping off and waiting for the system to fill gives me presuge, and I can drive the car again. The cutch used to engage neatr the bottom end of the travel. Now after I fill, it's near the top. Almost too near the top, as if it's pre-loaded. I can't figur out if it's the master or the slave. When I open the bleeder at the slave (they could have given a bit more room to move a wrench in there), I do get fluid coming out, so I think it's the master, but other posts indicate loss of fluid is the slave...
TIA
Mark
