Saabers:
For the past few weeks, my great 1988 SPG has sometimes not fired during extreme cold. I would have to let the car sit for a few hours, and come back out, and vroom; like nothing was ever wrong.
Well; the Monday that just passed..all went well until I got into the city. The car just cut off in traffic.
I cranked and cranked, and nothing..it would not fire.
I let it sit for a few minutes... It then fired, yet stumbled..cut off again..Same thing.
I was glad that I found parking. After work, it was a real struggle to get home...
It cut off in Manhattan several times...I would crank it, it would sometimes fire, and immediately cut off. On few occasions, the check engine light flash, then it cut off immediately. I cranked and cranked ... it then fired, although running a bit rough, and me on the pedal keeping it above 1000 rpms.
I said ..Freak it...head for the Brooklyn Bridge! As I just entered the bridge, under way..pushing on the pedal.., Noooo!, the car died...fortunately on the median... I cranked and cranked..nothing...
Finaly it stumbled and I babied the fine SPG over the bridge; then the same thing occurred about three times, before I finaly got it home.
And there he silently sits friends; body kit and spg wheels in all; an unfunctional beauty...
I opened the hood and noticed the brown wire going to the oxygen sensor broken completely off. It was the big fat battery that I jambed in there, that must have broken the wire. Yet I am not sure if this is the reason; for I think it was broken before.
Any other ideas? I wondered if it was the NTC, yet I am not certain.
Thanks for any words...
