amazing' i thought they were everywhere Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Wed, 3 Mar 2010 17:13:57 In Reply to: I wish I could find a decent 3-door hatch!, Frank [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 3 Mar 2010 16:53:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
but then i was rebuilding mine in the year 2000-2007 and everywhere id turn i would see 900 verts being sold,spg,900t,sedans of course i was just looking for parts, didnt know the market dried up. but same as now only shop for a southern 900. if you find one up north its a pretty good bet the hole undercarriage is full of rust.
i was visiting a mechanic that i tend to go to when my car has a problem these days, because it's so convenient to just drop off the car, and one time i pulled in to the shop he had a pristine 89 spg sitting in his drive that he just bought to turn around and sell, he was ask-en a very low price, i expressed my interest in buying the car. the car was perfect inside and out. until he said' nice car isnt it, i said heck yes not even a scratch in the paint. he said take a moment and look underneath it.
i looked at him puzzled and thought what the heck would i be able to see being the car sits so low to the ground, but i thought what the heck if my Indy wants me to shuffle around in the dirt,..then fine ill do it if thats gonna make his day.
i leaned down by driver-side door and looked under the car and the hole undercarriage was rotted out, huge hole in the driver/passenger side floor, mechanic said you just saw a glimpse of the rust damage on the car.
so moral of the story, even when you find one don't get your hopes up.
