a few more suggestions Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Thu, 18 Mar 2010 11:41:01 In Reply to: 1/4" inside diameter, tz, Wed, 17 Mar 2010 09:50:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
just did a clutch last week and would suggest also:
make sure if you are using a Saab clutch tool, that the portion of the tool that curves and points forward is to the left of the slave cylinder so it doesnt interfere with the next step.
When planning to pull clutch components, turn flywheel such that there is a pin at 11 oclock. then unseat the pressure plate from the other two pins and rotate it (along with the slave cyl) up and to the right, pivoting on the 11 o clock pin.
Also when taking the clutch tool out, have the helper ONLY push as hard as necessary to get the tool out of the pressure plate. pushing too hard can blow the slave cylinder.
I reverse bled the slave/master but it wasnt enough, so had to use a bike pump and adapter on the brake reservoir to get the last few bubbles out of the bleeder line.
for the reverse bleeder i use a plastic coke bottle with the 1/4 hose thru the bottle cap (a tight fit needed to prevent leakage) , with say 1/4 fluid, then squeeze the bottle to force air out the brake reservoir.
i also run the car up on ramps so that the front of the car is higher and i dont have to stoop over so much.
personally i wouldnt take the input shaft seal out of a tranny unless it was separated from the engine or it was leaking very badly. its a very cramped work space otherwise, and unless you have the perfect tool or the existing seal is relatively new, it aint gonna come out willingly!
