if you could only drive one for the next few years?
Which model would be your choice?
As much as I like the vintage 96, 99s, and the open air of the C900 convertible, there is something about the 3 door SPG; that feels like home sweet home. I'll take it black please; no milk or sugar.
Low, shiny original spg wheels, whale tail, gauges.
I can remember the first time I saw one at night in New York City back in 1990. I was driving my walnut brown 84 turbo, with the factory kit/whale tail waiting for light, staring into my girlfriend's eyes.
In the corner of my eyes, I picked up the 900's shape, and as I turned. my eyes automatically went to the shiny wheels, whoosh..whooh..whoosh.....and the beast sat so low...and the spg kit...
My jaw actually dropped, as I said aloud....damn...that is a beautiful machine... that is an SPG. I am not sure if my girlfriend was offended, yet I didn't care. I can still clearly imagine, that grey SPG slowy going across the intersection; its wheels flipping between that "work of art grey bodykit" and that was 1990. Where have the years gone?
Twenty years later, it is still the ultimate vehicle for me, and has never lost its beauty. Saab 900 turbo.
