Simon, I did not time the disassemble....the assemble took me about 4 hours and this is my first time on my Saab. I did use some air tools and I am a bit mechanically inclined. Everything came apart without issue. The car has has about 225k miles on the clock however its life has been Arizona, Colorado and NC since '03...lucky me!. I had a reliable independent press out/in the new front wheel bearings, used SAAB oem here and would recommend the same. Additionally, I did use a grease needle on the outer tie rod ends to freshen up the rubbers and the joints. Further you will want to use anti-seize for reassemble of the ball joints. My last recommendation would be while the axles are out clean the lower frame area out of dirt and gravel buildup and apply something to the steel. I used some used motor oil to coat things. Going forward I will pay more attention to this area, e.g. brake jobs, wheel rotations, etc. Oh one last tip non of the notes, recommendations I checked made any reference to how to get the new upper ball joint into place. The bottom slide right in. I ended up using a rubber mallet to tap and align into place.
I used the Saabmaster's link for guidance thru the project:
