Before you go replacing parts, the cheapest potential fix is to completely flush the brake fluid. Old brake fluid can sometimes leave you with similar symptoms.
1) siphon off as much fluid as possible from the reservoir. Don't forget the clutch side, too, if you have a manual. Top up with fresh fluid. You'll use about 1.5 liters of fluid for the flush.
2) At the left front, attach a hose and catch bottle to, and loosen the bleed screw.
3) With the car OFF, using either the foot-pump method, or pressure bleeder, bleed through the left caliper. Take AT LEAST 500ml of clear fluid. You're getting all the crud out of the system valves and such here. Don't forget to keep the reservoir topped up. Close the bleeder.
4) at the right front, repeat, but only drain off 300 ml of fluid.
5) Rears are a little different. You basically use the ABS pump to do the heavy lifting. Remove the pressure bleeder if you've used one.
6) Starting at the left rear, attach the catch bottle, and loosen the bleeder. Have an assistant inside the car, switch the ignition ON, but DO NOT START the motor. Have them just press the brake pedal (no pumping!) until you get a stream of fluid through the hose. Continue until you have drained 100 ml of CLEAR fluid off, tighten the bleeder, then have the assistant release the brake pedal.
7) repeat on the right side rear.
8) repeat every two years...
