apply undercoating to center channel?

I found a bit of rust on the surface my floorboards and also on the center channel ridge that runs between the driver seat and passenger seat. (The hump that has that bag of heat-shielding material on top of it).
I peeled back the floorboard undercoating and removed all the rust. Then I treated it with Naval Jelly and then sprayed a thick coat of rust-converting black paint over the whole floor and that center channel.
Next I'm going to reapply rubberized undercoating (comes in a spray can) covering the floorboards.
Question: Can I apply the undercoating spray to that center channel hump? This is the ridge that's in the cabin between the seats, sort of directly behind the catalytic converter. It gets very hot, which is why Saab puts that bag of heat-shielding material there. Is it too hot for undercoating? Will the heat cause the rubberized material to melt or smoke?
I'd like to protect that area from new rust.
Thanks for any info.
