Trunk won't latch?

So this weekend the trunk latch stopped latching on the '93 convert. I fiddled with the mechanism and it appears to be working fine, so I played with adjustment/attachment screws that hold it to the trunk lid, but it still is not latching - is it possible for the post on the rear trunk panel could have slipped down, so now it does not trigger the clasp mechanism? Is this adjusted with the huge Torx that is the center of the post end, or is there more to it (I did not have one handy to try it out)?
