Thought I'd update on the shift linkage coupler project... The rubber dogbone from eeuroparts right here: http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/PartDetail.aspx?id=7576416 does indeed fit perfectly, which makes it unnecessary to buy the $90 part when the rubber fails. Also, it's possible to replace the rubber without removing the rest of the coupler, which makes it unnecessary to realign the shifter... It just requires a couple long extensions and a magnet-on-a-stick to get the top nuts off...
Here's the only problem I ran into- before I thought to try to replace the rubber block without removing the rest of the coupler, I started pulling the coupler. I started with the tiny 8mm nut that attaches the coupler to the transmission shifting mechanism- it's on some kind of tiny bolt that seems to pin through the coupler and the shaft... Anyways, it twisted right off and I can't drive the remanents out. I tried a little punch and a hammer, tried getting pliers on it from the top, nothing.... Is there something I'm missing? Does it thread in AND have a nut?
