I experienced the same symptom in my '89 SPG en route to Portland a few years ago - severe shake / vibration on heavy throttle only. Came out of nowhere too. I took the next exit and prepared to tighten up a loose wheel, but they were snug. Went to a tire shop next day to investigate a bad balance situation, but none there. I could manage getting back home with easy use of throttle, right lane, etc. Shop found galling in the driver side inner driver cup, and replaced it and the left drive axle, and problems solved. The galling was almost impossible to see or feel with a fingernail, but it was enough to cause the shake. It seems only Saab and Subaru use this spider/tripod inner driver, and it can easily escape the average tire shop, need a true experienced specialist.
