James,
Do the RPMs drop during the rattling? Below a certain RPM the oil pressure will be low enough to cause the sending unit to energize the dummy light. I've never heard of a pressure relief valve being jammed and freed cyclically, they usually just jam open and that's that until the debris is cleared (which sometimes occurs spontaneously). By the way, I use Fram filters all the time, for many years, on many cars, and have never known them to create a problem but I change my oil and filters pretty religiously. So anyway, if the RPMs are dropping cyclically (causing the engine to rattle and the oil light to come on) then the question is "What's making that happen"? Air mass meter problems and vacuum leaks are the most common cause of idle undulation on these cars. An air mass meter problem will usually cease once the car is warmed up but a vacuum leak will continue to cause the symptom whenever at idle, regardless of engine temperature. More specific information about how the engine behaves will help with further diagnosis but at this point I'd suggest that you check for vacuum leaks and maybe swap in a known good AMM to see if the problem is affected and let us know what happens. Good luck
