as many things come to mind.
When you say the car gets hot, is the temp needle getting into the gauge's red area? The fan MUST be operational for these engines' cooling needs. The radiator fan system is an area commonly in need of attention. Your thermostat plays a roll as does your fan relay and thermo time switch mounted on the radiator. What's the condition/age of your engine coolant? This is an area of only a few components but they all must be functional.
I'm confused by your description on hot days; "is powered" means what?
You could be suffering a grounding problem around your main battery cables. The wiring to your alternator may not be properly attached. Your belts/pulley would probably make some noise if they were slipping so badly. Is the new alternator producing sufficient output (13+ volts)?
There's lots of info in this board on grounding and cooling fan problems. Your problems might lie in these categories but could be elsewhere.
You'll have to give more explicit instructions for us to sense the problem zone. Start with the car's year and model.
Best of luck.
