Hey Joe, so that is you! Actually your original compression ratio is 9.0:1 and I think you mean .50mm (.020") oversize. As scarce as the 9.0:1 OE Mahle OS pistons are if your pistons are still useable maybe just fit them to another block? I keep blueprinted (in our RMC boring mill) blocks on the shelf that only need to be honed to fit a new set of pistons and the main bearing bores touched up with a Sunnen line hone as necessary. These blocks were decked with a good timing cover and seal plate in place so all that seals up beautifully. I no longer use copper gaskets unless I'm doing the whole job to make sure the special cooling system sealer that we like is properly used. The last several 2.0 turbo engines I've done did get o-rings but with an OE gasket. The o-ring fits uniformly around the gasket's fire ring so it's held in place no mater how much boost you run. Anyway we've had no leaks and no gasket failures with this method! You won't believe where my shop well be in NY! Remember the place we had you drive up the driveway and check out, well James didn't end up buying it so I told my good friend Pat about it and he bought it. Another friend moved back to Pat's to help him with the place so we've got people going back and fourth that could haul a finished block back to you! The 3 of us will soon be doing turbochargers there and my place is only 15 minutes north of Pat's so it's all finally working out very nicely. I've also got '87 up 2.0 rods prepped and ready to finish up with wave-loc BB Chevy 7/16" rod bolts as the OE Saab ones have been questionable since GM took over! Give me a call! Take care, Dave
