This will not be a cheap job, nor an easy job.
There is some stuff to get you started at the link at the bottom. But I wrote that years ago.
Biggest things:
You NEED the crank sensor, and shutter wheel off of a 1990 or 1991 9000 with DI/APC. If you're doing this on the 86 motor, you also need a later non-turbo oil pump housing that has the crank sensor location cast into it (the one on the 86 motor will not have a place for the crank sensor). You'll also need a C900 non-turbo main pulley for a crank-sensor EZK car.
Dig up a 1990 9000 turbo that has DI/APC or a 1991. Note that you CANNOT interchange the wiring harness or ECU between 1990 & 1991 systems, you have to pick one or the other. I went with a 1990. 1990 uses a manifold pressure sensor to manage boost, while the 1991 uses an air inlet temp sensor to manage boost. Wiring is different, ECU is different.
LH & DI need to talk to one another. ONly 3 or 4 pins are needed. Look in Bentley for the connections between LH & EZK. Same connections.
I also upgraded to LH 2.4 (gets rid of that annoying idle hunting). LH 2.4 needs a signal from a proper speedo sensor, so you need a new speedo, and probably a newer cruise ECU.
Were I to do it all again, I'd start with a wiring harness from an EZK car. EZK has many of the connections needed for the DI/APC box, just on a different connector and without the DI cassette harness. I'd also probably do the 1991 setup.
Be aware, that these systems can generate more boost. When they detect knock, they first retard spark, THEN reduce boost, so you're a lot more likely to stay in the boost.
There is a 190 HP ECU available. The "red box" for DI/APC. Be careful with this one, as I glazed the clutch once, and the current owner blew the gearbox with it whilst autocrossing...
