NON-turbo....Flintstone brakes. Body (3dr, no SR) is completely perforated...250k. I'm not trying to sell anything here (items in question would be given away free). I'm moving this month & the car has to go ASAP. I'm mostly looking for advice as to the feasibility of saving older, hard to find parts for someone who needs them...vs letting the salvage yard crush them.
I'm going to pull the lump (w/5spd parts necc for a slushbox conversion) this weekend & save it for when I stumble across an nice rust free 8v w/a bad transaxle or whatever, as my drivetrain is super-duper (tight motor w/rblt head, 90' transaxle, good clutch...all miles mine).
The INTERIOR PANELS are the old style semi-marbled tan stuff (matches well w/burgundy exterior) & in good shape...I think they look cool. No room to store them however. Seats are marginal, carpet is shot. Steering wheel is ok. Chrome trim is mostly good. Pop out windows are perfect...tempted to save them along w/the door glass & manual mechanisms. Space however is a problem & I can't really keep anything beyond what fits in a few beer keg tubs...pushing my luck w/the eng/trans.
I hope this isn't a big no-no...I just don't have time for a free classifieds ad (maybe I'll try). Anyone know anyone in CT/RI/MA who could use this or that (esp the panels)? I know it's being sentimental...but I really want some of car to live on. I might be able to yank items of interest & stash it till the end of the month.
Things I plan on keeping; eng/trans/shift stuff, wheels, axles & steering knuckles (? big & heavy), manual mirrors, brake/clutch masters, booster (? old), door/ign locks, fuel pump, dash facia & instrument cluster, hatch glass (? big & fragile), bumpers (? big). Any other suggestions...or recommendations to skip something? I don't see c900's in the bone yard anymore...which sucks bc I need a replacement turbo for my 87' like yesterday.
