I found that the bleeder line that goes from the radiator to the overflow tank can get clogged up...what then happens is that a bubble of air surrounds the fan switch area inside the radiator, and it never switches the fans on.
I took mine out to unclog it..filled with crap.
Separately, it does not make sense that the car can be overheating and there is no pressure in the overflow tank. maybe I am reading it wrong. Go without the thermostat (acts like its always open, car will take a lot longer to warm up to normal running temp). and see if this fixes too.
